SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT: DOE Assistant Secretary Brad Crabtree to Deliver Keynote Address at EEMDL Conference

Austin, Texas, October 5, 2023 – The Energy Emissions Modeling and Data Lab (EEMDL), an initiative of three U.S. universities to improve the accuracy of greenhouse gas emissions measurement and accounting, is pleased to announce a keynote address from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary Brad Crabtree at EEMDL’s 2023 Annual Event.

To be held Oct. 11-12 at the University of Texas Commons Conference Center, EEMDL’s first annual conference is a must-attend event for professionals working on data-driven climate strategies in the private and public sectors. The conference will bring together experts and decisionmakers to discuss the latest developments in emissions inventories, methane regulations, differentiated gas markets and the global LNG trade.

Mr. Crabtree leads DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), which is made up of about 750 federal employees—scientists, engineers, technicians, and administrative staff. FECM is responsible for research, development, and demonstration efforts on advancing technologies to meet U.S. climate goals and minimize the environmental impacts of fossil fuel use, including low carbon power generation and low carbon supply chains; carbon capture and storage technologies; methane emissions reductions; critical mineral production; and carbon dioxide removal.

DOE’s work is aligned with the Biden Administration’s Methane Emissions Reduction Action Plan, which focuses on cutting methane emissions from the largest domestic sources, and the Global Methane Pledge, an international methane-reduction initiative led by the U.S. and European Union with more than 100 signatory nations.

DOE is also working with other countries on an international framework for the measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the global natural gas supply chain that can be used by both buyers and sellers or by individual governments.

Details on Mr. Crabtree’s keynote address, the full agenda, and details on how to register for the EEMDL 2023 Annual Event can be viewed here.
